With all my heart, I love Jake and Sabrina. Hands down, their story has always been one of my favorite Lena Hart books. I've read Because You Love Me a dozen times. Soooooo glad to read this prequel. Wished it could have been longer but alas .. thats a prequel for you !

This was an absolute treat! I enjoyed seeing the love unfold between Jake and Sabrina. The author did an excellent job fleshing out the characters. The love scenes were also perfect. They contained enough steam without overpowering the story. I've already bought book two and look forward to devouring it as well!

About the Author
Has done more than any other individual this century to change the way in which hypnotherapy is practiced. He was a fellow of many international professional bodies as was the founding president of the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis.

Ernest L. Rossi, Ph.D., is Diplomate in Clinical Psychology and the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award for Outstanding Contributions to the Field of Psychotherapy by the Milton H. Erickson Foundation. He is also the science editor of Psychological Perspectives and the author, coauthor, and editor of numerous professional books.

Inside the February Man

These hypnosis sessions took place in 1945, when Erickson was still developing some of the approaches that made him the greatest hypnotist of his time. Erickson and Ernest L. Rossi went over the session transcriptions in detail many years later, and Erickson explained what he was doing and why, and how the patient got such extraordinary results from her sessions.

The sessions themselves are a virtual education in hypnotic approaches to time, as Erickson inserts his presence into "S"'s life and adds a parental voice and a trusted advisor to a childhood already lived. The book is like a nested series of conversations: Milton and "S" in 1945, Milton and Rossi in 1978, and Rossi and the reader as Rossi adds in metacomments on his earlier conversations with Erickson. Even the side comments by the rather clueless (IMO) Dr Fink added to my enjoyment of this extraordinary work. I consider this book a must for the library of anyone interested in hypnosis/nlp.

The ONLY full transcript of him working from start to finish that I am aware of...

This is the only full written transcript with commentary of Erickson working with someone from start to finish that I know of. I'm amazed at how few people have read this book. I love watching how he worked so long ago. At first it was hard for me to track what he was doing but when I got used to how he worked I could see the genius of what he was doing. Erickson was the master of metaphors and pattern interrupts. If you read closely you can use how he masterfully made use of these two tools to assist his client in making change.

The 'Decision Destroyer' by Richard Bandler was based on this work from what I have been told. There is so much to this work that if you were to spent just the time reading it and breaking down what Erickson did AND ultimately put it to use in your work then it would ONLY up your game.

Absolute must read for any serious student of Erickson!!

It read like a gripping psychological detective thriller---and I'm sure that Dr. Erickson had to be a detective as well as a hypnotherapist--- now I'm looking forward to this complete account of one of his most fascinating cases ever set down on paper. A must have for Pre-service teachers.

On the superficial level this book is about how an informed understanding of technology pedagogy can improve the current teaching environment. However, I found that this book really tries to highlight how self-organising behavioural policy making can be beneficial for schools and schooling district. As an educator I found this book highly informative, especially in its approach to the much criticised 1:1 computing. Bain and Weston turn some long standing assumptions on their head while trying to show how ICT's can be effective in education. The book analyse the outdated teaching practices/classrooms of the past and introduces the reader to a researched informed alternative method. Most importantly, the authors make these complex techniques more accessible. Sadly, I believe this book won't be touched by policy makers, however, if pre-service teachers are given access to this book from an early point in their Higher Education, they could start making transformative decisions within their schools regarding the benefits of ICT in the classroom. A MUST for any early pre-service teacher.

Making a difference in turnaround schools

Thank you Mark and Alan! I am currently leading a $12M, 3year Federal turnaround grant effort for 6 schools. One of the major strategies is to have these schools use the technology they have to make their lives easier and more efficient as well as improve student achievement. It is always a surprise when we see how technology is viewed not as an enabler but rather as a barrier. Your book has given us a wonderfully practical framework for working with the schools as well as many conversation starters and stories to share of how others are doing it. Technology is becoming a part of their daily lives and their decision making processes as they use it to teach, engage students, support their grade and content level meetings and "crunch data" in order to make team decisions. Successful turnaround of our lowest performing schools relies upon our effectively using technology and you are definitely helping with this addition to our toolkit.

The Learning Edge: What Technology Can Do to Educate All Children

Finally a real book about how technology can be used to transform education. The authors present research to back up their claims and to support their findings. They present the paradigm shift that needs to occur from the classroom, to the policy makers for true differentiated instruction to occur with the help of ICT. The authors step out to disagree with the popular notion that access to technology is the answer to all that ails education. They further explain that young people are not neccessarily the digital native others have claimed (my professional experience aligns with this thinking.)

This book is a must read for any educator that is working in the area of educational reform, technology acquisition/integration, leadership and professional development for teachers. Bain and Weston are on target with this book of reason and research.

Swaps, futures, options, structured instruments - a wide range
of derivative products is traded in today's financial markets.
Analyzing, pricing and managing such products often requires
fairly sophisticated quantitative tools and methods. This book
serves as an introduction to financial mathematics with special
emphasis on aspects relevant in practice. In addition to numerous
illustrative examples, algorithmic implementations are demonstrated
using "Mathematica" and the software package "UnRisk" (available
for both students and teachers). The content is organized in 15
chapters that can be treated as independent modules.

In particular, the exposition is tailored for classroom use in a
Bachelor or Master program course, as well as for practitioners
who wish to further strengthen their quantitative background.

About the Author

Hansjoerg Albrecher is Professor of Actuarial Science at the Faculty of Business and Economics, University of Lausanne, as well as a Faculty Member of the Swiss Finance Institute. Previous affiliations include the Johann Radon Institute for Computational and Applied Mathematics of the Austrian Academy of Sciences in Linz, the University of Linz, the University of Aarhus, K.U. Leuven and Graz University of Technology. The author has ample experience in connecting the academic world with practitioners' views and problems, and has been advising banks and insurance companies.

Andreas Binder is CEO of MathConsult GmbH and head of MathConsult's computational finance group, who have been developing the UnRisk� software suite for valuation and risk management of financial instruments. He is an experienced adviser of banks, auditors, regulators and capital management firms.

Volkmar Lautscham has graduated in Technical Mathematics and Financial/Industrial Management from Graz University of Technology and Karl-Franzens University, respectively, with longer academic stays abroad in Sheffield, London and Stockholm. From 2006 to 2009, he was working for a major investment bank in London focusing on credit underwriting/structuring and real estate. The author currently holds a position at the University of Lausanne, where he pursues a PhD degree and teaches within the MSc Actuarial Science programme.

Philipp Mayer obtained his PhD in financial mathematics from Graz University of Technology. He then held amongst others a post-doc position at the Radon Institute of the Austrian Academy of Sciences in Linz, before returning to Graz as an assistant professor, where he carried out research in financial mathematics and taught both bachelor and master level courses. In 2010 he joined the Financial Markets department of a major financial institution in Brussels, where he is responsible for modeling equity, commodity and hybrid instruments.
